"Agile builds national IP services network"

Agile Communications is completing the construction and installation of a national Internet services backbone network using protected, clear-channel STM-1 links over STM-4 capable Packet-over-SDH (POS) bearer circuits provided by NextGen Networks.

The network is already switched on in Adelaide, Melbourne and Brisbane, with Sydney slated to be brought online in July. Further nodes are also under construction in Canberra and Perth. All existing points of presence are built at two physically separate sites in the CBD of each city, with fibre interconnection.

The network delivers a national, integrated QoS, IP network that is already delivering services for multiple customers. Current customers include Agile itself (for national VoIP voice carriage); Internode (Delivering national Flat-Rate residential ADSL services and a suite of Business DSL based services), and AOL|7 (for management of the national AOL|7 residential broadband network and provision of its customer management system).
