Agile Scores Top Broadband Award
24 September 2004
National broadband wholesaler Agile Communications has beaten Telstra and Optus by winning a telecommunication industry award as Australia's best broadband wholesaler.
Agile, the wholesale partner for national broadband retailer Internode, this month collected the Australian Telecom Award as this country's top Broadband / Corporate Wholesale carrier. Agile beat industry giants including Telstra and Optus in the award. Other finalists included iBurst, iPrimus and Comindico.
Established in 1997, Agile Communications operates a national Tier-1 broadband network that is delivered through a number of retail organisations including Internode, one of the six largest broadband retailers in the country.
Agile received its award at a gala ceremony held at The Wentworth Sydney on Wednesday, September 22, 2004. On the same week, Agile announced that by Christmas it will equip telephone exchanges in South Australia and Victoria with turbo-charged ADSL2 broadband services that operate five times faster than current top speeds.
Agile Communications CEO Simon Hackett said the award recognised that innovation was more important than size in the rapidly evolving broadband sector. "This award shows that Agile is really starting to kick some goals," he said.
Award winners are selected from a shortlist of finalists based on votes made by readers of Australian Telecom, a magazine that focuses on the national telecommunications industry . All votes are collected by Australian Telecom Magazine and audited by Gould Ralph & Co.
